Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra Sets New Standard for AI-Powered Pool Cleaning

Published

on

In the rapidly evolving world of pool maintenance, Beatbot has emerged as one of the most exciting companies pushing the boundaries of what robotic cleaners can do. Their newest innovation—the AquaSense 2 Ultra—isn’t just another robotic pool cleaner. It’s the world’s first AI-powered, five-in-one cleaning system, designed to clean every inch of your pool with cutting-edge intelligence and unmatched efficiency.

After just a few short years on the market, Beatbot is establishing itself as a technology-first disruptor in the industry. “Our founder has over 10 years of experience in the home robotics industry,” explained Patrick Jennings of Beatbot. “With that, we’ve been able to grow rapidly, and our R&D team makes up more than 70% of our workforce. We’re really focused on making the best product and making it work for the consumer.”

What Makes The Beatbot AquaSense Ultra 2 Different?

Unlike traditional robotic pool cleaners that follow blind, repetitive patterns, the AquaSense 2 Ultra uses HybridSense AI Pool Mapping, a fusion of artificial intelligence, ultrasonic sensors, infrared, and an onboard AI camera to intelligently scan, map, and adapt to any pool layout. “It gives the robot a true understanding of its environment,” said Jennings. “It can adapt in real-time to different shapes, slopes, and obstacles, making sure every inch is covered.”

This data is processed on a quad-core Cortex-A7 1.8 GHz CPU, giving the AquaSense 2 Ultra more computing power than many desktop computers had just a few years ago. That advanced processing allows the robot to react dynamically as it cleans, optimizing every movement based on the real-time conditions of the pool.

Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra

A True Five-in-One Cleaner

What really makes the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra stand out is that it’s the only robotic cleaner on the market that tackles five key cleaning functions in a single device:

  1. Pool Floor Cleaning
  2. Wall Scrubbing
  3. Waterline Cleaning
  4. Surface Skimming
  5. Water Clarification

“We’re trying to make pool ownership more fun,” said Jennings. “This one device eliminates the need for multiple pieces of equipment.”

At the heart of its movement capabilities is an industry-first submarine propulsion system, allowing the robot to transition smoothly between zones—whether it’s gliding across the floor, scaling the walls, or skimming debris from the surface. Once those tasks are complete, it activates the ClearWater Clarification System, a natural water clarifier cartridge that enhances water quality and clarity.

Smarter Navigation With CleverNav

One of the biggest frustrations pool owners have with traditional robotic cleaners is their lack of efficiency. Many randomly roam the pool, repeatedly covering the same areas or missing critical spots. Beatbot solves that with CleverNav, its proprietary AI navigation system.

“CleverNav works like GPS for your pool,” explained Jennings. “It plans the most efficient cleaning path. On the floor and surface, it follows an S-shaped pattern. On the waterline and walls, it switches to an N-pattern. And after each cleaning, you can see a full pool map and cleaning history in the app.”

The result? Maximum coverage, minimal overlap, and complete transparency for the user.

Cleaning That Targets Debris—Even in the Corners

One of the standout features of the AquaSense 2 Ultra is its ability to detect and collect debris, rather than just pushing it around like many cleaners do. The key is its dual side brush system, working in tandem with a main roller brush and a powerful water flow that pulls debris inward for collection.

“We designed this robot with an industry-first dual side brush system that gets into hard-to-reach corners,” said Jennings. “That water flow creates suction that ensures debris isn’t just moved—it’s picked up.”

Additionally, the AI camera gives the robot the ability to recognize leaves, sticks, dirt, and other pool debris, optimizing its route and cleaning pattern to hit the areas that need the most attention.

Real-Time Control With the Beatbot App

The AquaSense 2 Ultra isn’t just autonomous—it’s interactive. With the Beatbot app, pool owners can steer the cleaner manually when it’s on the surface, adjusting direction and speed as needed.

“Imagine you see a leaf and want to go get it—you can,” said Jennings. “And when you’re done, just tap the ‘return to edge’ button in the app, and it guides itself back to the pool wall for easy pickup.”

This manual drive mode, combined with real-time cleaning updates and one-touch retrieval, makes maintenance more efficient—and a bit more fun.

Voice Alerts That Keep You Informed

Unlike most robotic cleaners that silently operate in the background, the AquaSense 2 Ultra offers real-time voice alerts to inform users of its progress, system status, and battery life while it’s on the surface.

“It’s not going to have a full-on conversation with you,” said Jennings, “but it does provide audible updates so you don’t have to keep checking the app.”

That combination of automation and instant feedback is yet another way Beatbot is streamlining the pool ownership experience.

Privacy and Cybersecurity You Can Trust

As advanced as the technology is, Beatbot is serious about data privacy and user security. The AquaSense 2 Ultra has earned Cybersecurity and Privacy Protection certification from TÜV Rheinland, adhering to the highest GDPR and ISO standards.

“You can trust that your personal data is always protected,” said Jennings. “We’ve made privacy a top priority.”

What’s Under the Hood

When it comes to specs, the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra is packing serious hardware beneath its sleek exterior. This isn’t just another pool robot—it’s a next-gen cleaning machine built from the ground up with a focus on performance.

At the heart of the unit is a 13,400mAh lithium-ion battery that delivers up to 10 hours of surface cleaning or 5 hours of runtime for more demanding tasks like scrubbing walls or cleaning the floor. It charges fully in about 4.5 hours. A total of 11 motors power its movement and cleaning systems, including dual drive motors and dedicated propellers for waterline and surface maneuverability. Inside, two debris baskets (4.0 and 3.7 liters respectively) handle the filtration load, equipped with dual-layer filters rated at 150 and 250 microns. Whether you’re dealing with fine dust or larger leaves, the AquaSense 2 Ultra is built to capture it all.

The robot itself measures 16.97 inches long, 10.94 inches wide, and 17.87 inches tall, weighing in at 29.1 pounds. It features four extra-large roller brushes and a dual side brush system—a design that excels at cleaning tight corners and difficult edges that traditional cleaners often miss. The entire robot carries an IP68 waterproof rating, while the dock is rated IPX4, making it more than capable of handling the elements.

Connectivity is just as robust. The AquaSense 2 Ultra supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi and connects via Bluetooth, offering full integration with the Beatbot app. Through the app, you can start and stop cleanings, schedule tasks, monitor performance, steer the robot, and view a detailed cleaning history complete with pool mapping. It’s compatible with pools up to 3,875 square feet in size, including all major surface types like tile, fiberglass, vinyl, and gunite.

For added peace of mind, Beatbot includes a 3-year full replacement warranty with every AquaSense 2 Ultra. It’s a testament to the company’s confidence in the long-term durability of their product.

Beatbot AquaSense Ultra 2 – Designed for the Future of Pool Care

From the AI-driven navigation and multi-zone coverage to voice alerts and mobile steering, the AquaSense 2 Ultra is clearly not just a me-too entry in the robotic cleaner category. It’s a reimagining of what a robotic pool cleaner can and should be.

“We’re not just trying to be another pool cleaner,” Jennings emphasized. “We’re building something that makes pool care truly effortless.”

And with a team that’s 70% R&D, Beatbot isn’t finished. Jennings hinted that more groundbreaking products are on the way.

“We’re excited about where this technology is headed,” he said. “And we’re just getting started.”

Cons: Slower heat-up times; performance drops in colder air temperatures.

Many homeowners choose gas heaters for spas and heat pumps for pools, or even install both for maximum flexibility.

Choosing the Best Product for Your Pool

When selecting the right pool heating solution, consider:

  1. Pool Size & Volume – Larger pools may require higher BTU gas heaters or large-capacity heat pumps.
  2. Climate & Location – Heat pumps thrive in warmer regions; gas heaters dominate in cooler climates.
  3. Usage Habits – If you want to swim year-round or heat a spa quickly, gas heaters may be worth the fuel cost. For those looking to maintain a comfortable temperature consistently, a heat pump is usually more cost-effective.
  4. Budget – Gas heaters typically cost less upfront but more to operate. Heat pumps cost more initially but offer significant long-term savings.
  5. Automation & Integration – Most leading models are automation-ready, making it easier than ever to manage heating from your smartphone or pool system controller.
Choosing the Best Product for Your Pool

Pricing a Pool Heater or Heat Pump

When it comes to cost, the conversation starts with equipment price. Gas heaters generally enter the market at a lower price point. A compact 175,000–200,000 BTU model often sells for around $1,800 to $2,500. Mid-range heaters in the 250,000–300,000 BTU class usually run between $2,500 and $3,500, while the biggest 350,000–400,000 BTU units for large pools can exceed $5,000. Heat pumps begin higher. Most standard residential models range from $2,800 to $4,000, and larger 120,000–140,000 BTU or inverter-driven units with heat-and-chill features can climb to $6,000 or even $7,500.

The real difference shows up in monthly energy bills. A gas heater running on natural gas typically costs $200 to $400 a month to operate, depending on pool size and how frequently it’s used. Propane can push those costs even higher. Electricity costs for a heat pump are much lower, usually falling between $50 and $150 per month in most regions. That efficiency makes heat pumps especially attractive for homeowners in warmer climates where the units can draw plenty of heat from the surrounding air.

Over the lifetime of the equipment, gas heaters tend to last five to ten years, which means most owners will spend between $12,000 and $18,000 over a decade when fuel and equipment are combined. Heat pumps last longer—typically ten to fifteen years—and although they cost more to install, the lower operating expense brings total ten-year ownership costs closer to $7,000 to $10,000.

How Reinforced PVC Membranes are Redefining ICF Pool Construction

Published

on

RENOLIT PVC pool

A growing number of pool builders are turning to insulated concrete forms (ICFs) combined with a reinforced polyvinyl chloride (PVC) membrane to construct durable, watertight pool wall systems. This approach offers a long-lasting and visually appealing waterproofing solution that can be custom-installed on site.

These construction materials—the foam forms for the structure and reinforced PVC membranes—are readily available, allowing pool professionals to build quickly and efficiently. This flexibility enables installation of pools in virtually any size or layout, including compact backyard models with resort-style features that are increasingly in demand.

A key driver behind this method’s success is the growing popularity of reinforced PVC membranes. Long used in Europe, these membranes are gaining traction in North America for their durability, esthetic appeal, and efficient installation. Combined with ICFs, they offer professionals—including architects, engineers, specifiers, and contractors—a versatile, customizable system with greater control over schedules and construction costs.

The ideal combination

ICF construction has gained momentum over the past decade as a practical and adaptable building method in the pool industry. Originally developed for residential foundations, ICFs use interlocking expanded polystyrene (EPS) blocks to form a framework for reinforced concrete walls. This system allows pool builders to create custom shapes and sizes without using prefabricated kits or liners.

All3Pools of Missouri has been constructing ICF pools for more than a decade and recently began using reinforced PVC membranes in its projects.

“We’ve adopted a commercial reinforced PVC membrane finish on our pools,” says Patrick Quigley, CFO and co-founder of All3Pools. “The material is designed to provide a smooth, seamless surface that is resistant to chemicals, UV light, and wear, making it ideal for both residential and commercial pools.”

This combination aligns with shifting consumer habits.

“Over the next few years, consumers are likely going to stay in their homes and add a pool to their backyard rather than move to a new home with a pool to improve their long-term equity and avoid a higher mortgage interest rate,” says Aaron King, CEO and co-founder of All3Pools. “An ICF pool can be easily configured to any size or shape, and all the materials are readily available, so builders don’t have to wait on a kit or a custom-fabricated pool liner. This ICF with a reinforced PVC membrane combination gives pool builders a greater ability to control their schedule and costs.”

ICF systems and reinforced PVC membranes offer flexibility, watertight integrity, and long-term durability. With fast installation times, low maintenance requirements, and upscale esthetics, the pairing is quickly becoming a go-to solution for builders looking to meet rising demand with greater efficiency.

A renovation game-changer

Reinforced PVC membranes are gaining traction in new builds and as a practical solution for pool renovations. These membranes can be applied over various existing surfaces—such as plaster, tile, and gunite—allowing professionals to restore aging pools quickly and cost-effectively. Lightweight and adaptable, they offer a relatively simple learning curve and require minimal equipment, making them an attractive choice for many contractors.

All3Pools not only builds ICF pools finished with reinforced PVC membranes but has also identified the value of using these membranes for renovations—a segment with strong growth potential in the coming years.

“The material has relatively low barriers to entry and has already helped many pool professionals renovate gunite, plaster, and tile pools that would otherwise be costly to repair,” says King. “Reinforced PVC membranes offer a fast, efficient, and cost-effective alternative.”

To support broader adoption, All3Pools regularly hosts training events which are open to builders who want to learn about these new systems to help professionals incorporate these methods into their renovation offerings.

“This system can be applied over a wide range of existing surface materials to waterproof and restore the appearance of older pools,” he says.

The growing availability of durable and visually appealing reinforced PVC membranes has contributed to increased interest in this solution. “There is a learning curve, like anything else,” says King. “But it’s not overly difficult and doesn’t require expensive equipment.”

Compared to traditional methods like replastering or retiling, reinforced membranes significantly reduce overall renovation time, especially by minimizing labour. Once surface prep is complete, an average 20- x 40-ft residential pool can often be completed in three to five days. Traditional replastering requires curing time, and tile renovations are even more labour-intensive, often involving removal, surface repair, installation, grouting, sealing, and additional curing—plus regular maintenance like acid washing or regrouting over time. Reinforced PVC membranes eliminate many of these time-consuming steps and reduce long-term upkeep for clients.

As demand for renovations continues to rise, this approach provides professionals with a streamlined way to extend the life of aging pools while delivering an updated, high-end finish.

What to look for

When sourcing reinforced PVC membranes in Canada or the U.S., professionals should evaluate more than availability. Product and specification standards vary by manufacturer, and not all membranes offer the same level of performance. Look for:

● Robust formulations for long-term durability

● Internal fabric reinforcement for added strength

● Protective coatings on both the face and back

● Prompt technical support and proven references

* 80 mil PVC membrane extra thickness adds end-user confidence in product

These standards are especially important in renovation work, where surface conditions, geometry, or accessibility can present unforeseen challenges. Support from manufacturers who offer detailed drawings and responsive technical guidance can improve project success.

More control, more opportunity

As reinforced PVC membranes gain popularity in North America, more pool professionals are considering ICF construction to complement their offerings. Whether building smaller pools, introducing new pricing tiers, or improving scheduling flexibility, the ICF-PVC membrane combination delivers on all fronts.

With design flexibility, installation efficiency, and long-term performance, these systems enable builders to meet rising consumer expectations for high-quality, low-maintenance pools. For contractors looking to expand into renovations or optimize new builds, reinforced PVC membranes offer an opportunity to stay competitive, productive, and in demand.
